It started like any other night. He and his friend were driving down a wooded shortcut, the kind of road that always felt unsettling at night, when the cars ahead suddenly slammed their brakes. At first, he thought it was a deer. But what stood above the bend in the road was no animal.

It was tall. Thin. Its long, black hair hung down to its waist. Its clothes were strange—like a dark suit that didn’t fit right. No shoes. And its face… staring straight at him. Then came the grin. A wide, razor-sharp smile full of teeth that no human should ever have.

Everyone saw it. Brake lights flickered as drivers hesitated between stopping and running. Finally, panic won, and they all floored it. But the nightmare didn’t end there.

At the railroad tracks, just when he thought they’d escaped, the car jolted violently. The right side lifted as though it had rolled over something solid. His passenger screamed, but when they checked—nothing was there. No sound, no movement, only the heavy silence of something unseen.
