I'm going to use Father Mike Schmiss and this is the center of

his ends.

There's sometimes where we can define ourselves by something.

A skill that we've really spent a lot of time developing or whether it's a, you know,

we have a musical gift.

We have a physical attribute.

We have, we're the funniest.

We're the smartest.

Sometimes we have a thing that we just use to define ourselves.

What we realize as we get older is that if that thing is anything less than Jesus,

if that thing we use to define ourselves is anything less than Jesus, it's going to

be taken away.

We'll lose it.

Not like God's in a region and like grab it out of our lives to punish us, but just

it'll go because we all know this, right?

At some point our youth goes.

At some point whatever is extrinsic to us, not essential to us is gone and we'll be

left with two things.

Who we ultimately are, the core of who we are and Jesus.

And if the end of my life, the core of who I am is not the person who has said yes to

God with everything I've got.

Then I'll just have a shell.
