And good morning to you. It is Sunday, January the 28th. I'm Ali Velshi. Demonstrators in major cities around the country took to the streets again yesterday after the Memphis

Police Department released footage of the brutal beating of Tyree

Nichols by five members of its own police force. And in the continuing aftermath, Memphis PD

announced yesterday that it has permanently deactivated its Scorpion unit. Scorpion was the department's

anti-violence group that's been under scrutiny in recent days after it became public that all five of

the police officers who were fired, arrested, and charged with second-degree murder in Nichols' death

were members of the unit. Joining me now from Memphis, Tennessee, is NBC's Antonia Hilton,

who has been covering the story from the beginning. Antonio, good morning to you. Tell us a bit about this new development with the Scorpion Unit of which all five of these

police officers were members.

Well, Ali, I was actually with protesters yesterday as that news came down and people

were cheering saying that this was a win for them and a part of the kind of action and

accountability and response that

they wanted to see from the Memphis Police Department. But for most of those folks, it's not

enough. They highly doubt in the words and the conversations that I've had with residents here, that

these five officers would be the only five in the Scorpion unit who they feel are worth looking into.
