Summary

Recently, the world stood still when we heard the news that Chadwick Boseman, world famous movie star and cultural icon that prematurely passed away of colon cancer at the young age of 43.

 

On average, 148,000 people will be diagnosed with colon cancer this year.  Of the 148,000 people diagnosed with colon cancer, 53,000 people will die from it.  

 

And 9,000 of those who get colon cancer will be under the age of 45!

 

Today's episode is going to be a wake up call for many. In episode 60, Chris dives into the serious but neglected topic of colon cancer, how colon cancer can be totally avoided and what factors increase risk. Chris recently learned a lot about this issue when confronting some unrelated health issues himself and wants to share that knowledge with all of you!

And I'll just start off by pointing out the fact that today we're going to discuss something that isn't normally in the wheelhouse of topics

important and something that awareness has been somewhat drawn to recently due to an event that has occurred within

pop culture. And the event that I'm referring to is about two weeks ago. Some of you may know

that Chadwick Bozeman, who was a movie star, he played Jackie Robinson in the movie

42, which was the story of the life of Jackie Robinson. He was in a bunch of the Avengers movies,

and of course, he was the star of the Black Panther, which that was a mega blockbuster, as well as a cultural

breakthrough for the African-American community.

The guy was also a phenomenal human being from what I understand, but he recently

passed away due to colon cancer at the age of 43.

Again, this was, it was all over social media when it happened.

And I don't think it was by accident.

I think in our society, we tend to really glorify, you know, celebrities and athletes and things like that.

But this guy was actually somebody who was out there making a difference in the world.

He had been battling with colon cancer for a while.

He kept it under wraps.

And during his final years, he would still make the time to get out and talk
