0:18.8	Here's the letter from Kathy. I absolutely loved my job. I went back to college after my kids went to college and became a special education teacher.
0:28.8	So here's the issue. Whenever I tell someone that I teach special ed, they say things like,
0:34.8	oh, how can you teach those kids? Or gosh, how do you do it? Or why did you want to do that?
0:45.2	I'm sick of defending my students in the choice I made to teach. My students are kids first and need someone in their corner.
0:53.6	They come from hard lives and most are a greater to behind their peers.
0:58.0	I love my students and want to be their cheerleader as well as a safe adult.
1:03.1	They can trust in their lives. So please, what can I say to ignorant people as a quick comeback?

1:21.6	why would she use her education in such a pathetic way teaching kids who aren't, you know, developmentally, whatever.

1:49.6	One of my favorite lines in a lot of scenarios is, are you trying to be hurtful or are you just not thinking?
1:58.4	That gives the opportunity for the person to reevaluate what they just said.
2:06.1	I'm writing this down.
2:07.9	Hurtful or just not thinking. I love it. I love it.
2:14.2	You had a little girl call in about, I think it was last Sunday, about her friends that didn't understand her political stance and what she could reply to those ugly friends.
2:29.0	Right. And this would have worked for that also. Are you trying to be hurtful or are you?
2:36.2	Yeah, I like it. I like it for family friends.
