As America approaches the 250th anniversary of our nation's founding, we pause to remember the blessings of God's hand upon our country and the Christian principles that shaped its earliest foundations.

And so I want to take you to one Old Testament story

and then one New Testament scripture. Today we begin with the Old Testament story. And before you

find the story itself in the book of Genesis, let me just read a summary to you from 2 Peter

chapter 2. The Bible says in 2nd Peter 2 verse 5 that God spared not the old world,

but saved Noah, the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the

world of the ungodly, and turning the cities of Sodom and Gamara into ashes, condemned them

with an overthrow, making them an example unto those that after should live ungodly,

and delivered just lot, vexed with a filthy conversation of the wicked,

for that righteous man dwelling among them in seeing and hearing,
