No, I'm not talking about COVID-19, and no, we're not talking about murder hornets.

We are talking today specifically about race and inequality.

These are things that are difficult to talk about.

Because in doing so, you have to talk about people's pain.

Because in doing so, you might have to examine your own part.

Let's start with the term white fragility, which I hate that term so much.

And I hate that term because I don't want to think about it in terms of me.

Obviously, I'm white.

But I don't want to think of myself as fragile.

So what is white fragility?

I've had to look at it this week because I don't like the term.

So I needed to understand what it meant.

Well, the term is used to describe the paper thin skin of some white people

when the subject of racism is brought up.

That subject can bring up fear, defensiveness, guilt, silence,

narcissism, and sometimes it just makes us want to withdraw.

Like we just want to run away because we don't want to talk about it.

We don't want to be associated with it.
