What up guys? Welcome back to the Jeremy Scott Fitness Podcast and Radio Show. Coming to you hot here on this Thursday morning. I only have a few minutes here, so I want to make this quick, but I wanted to get this out just for the fact this has been going on in our house recently and with a lot of the athletes we work with here. And today's podcast is titled, What Are You Working For?

0:21.9

And this comes to mind.

0:23.5

I wrote this, if you go to the jimmy Scott Fitness.com blog, we have this written down in detail,

0:29.9

and there's a mandatory minute series on this, but I wanted to get it to the podcast for the fact of my wife recently got a promotion at her job.

0:37.4

She's worked for the same company for 10 years ever since she got out of college. And it's one of the major hotel companies. And so she, you know, she was excited about it. And I think oftentimes we don't know what we're getting into until we're into it. And like anything, it's new for her. So it's a change and it's most definitely a challenge. And I think oftentimes, you know, people get nervous of change because like, wow, you know, I don't like change. Change is scary. And I'm like, the reality is change is going to happen no matter what. Change happens every single day. You just kind of adapt and roll with it and you, you know, you pull your punches and you, you know, you swing hard when you swing hard. And it's kind of the same

1:11.5

when people say like they like surprises. I always, I kind of chuckle when people say, they're like,

1:15.4

well, I love surprises. I'm like, well, I kind of think people are full of shit when they say that because

1:19.5

they like surprises that are fun and that they like. You don't like the surprise of coming home and having

1:24.4

your hot water heater blow up and flood your house. You don't like having

1:27.7

the surprise of being on the tarmac and they tell you you're going to be stuck there for two hours because there's mechanical issues. And so that's kind of my point. Anyways, I digress. The point of this is just to ask you guys, what are you working for? Like when you go to your job every day, like when you wake up and you go through your day, what are you really working for? What is the ultimate goal?

1:28.6

Is it money? Is it your job every day. Like when you wake up and you go through your day, what are you really working for?

1:44.5

What is the ultimate goal? Is it money? Is it self-fulfillment? What are you trying to get out of that every day? Obviously, I understand the world. We need to work. We need to make dollars. It's, you know, kind of funds our dreams and things we want to do. But when you go to your job and your task are you passionate about it do you enjoy it

2:01.2

and i ask you what are you spending your time doing when you're there and what are you giving up for it

2:06.1

or do you feel you're making a difference and i'm going to preface it by by going this route and we

2:11.1

spend a lot of time i would say probably 80% of our life into our career and our craft or our

2:16.3

calling or whatever however you guys choose to look at

2:18.8

even if it's just you clocking in an hourly job trading time for money you're still trading your

2:23.8

time for that and we give up a lot of things along the way for that money or for that job and people

2:29.3

sometimes look at their life as oh well this is this is my work life this is my you know this is my other life, this is my, you know, this is my other life,

2:35.0

and this is my, these are my work days and these are my free days. I look at time all the same, you guys. There is no work time and free time and play time. It's all just lifetime, and it's all ticking away rather fast. And so the minute you can detach your brain from just thinking of it as, okay, here's the time I work and I'm giving this just to work and then I can

2:34.0

enjoy my life outside of that. Erase that from your brain. It's all your life. You're choosing to spend it at these places each day, and that's why I bring this up. So think of it this way. When you dedicate your life to a career and a task and a goal and a craft and a calling, however you look at it, can you guys name me the last five Super Bowl champions? The last five teams that won the Super Bowl. Think about it for a second. You probably know last years, but probably not five years back. Can you name me the last five Miss America winners? I don't know a single one. Can you name me five people who have

3:24.7

won the Nobel Peace Prize? I would struggle to name you all five right now. And can you name me the last
