Well, hello, my friends, and welcome to the Live Inspired podcast with John O'Leary Monday morning moments.

We begin our days and these weeks in awe and on fire with a burst of inspiration.

So let's get after it this week with a question. What are you wishing for?

What are you wishing for? It's a question many of us are going to be asking kids this time of

year. What are you wishing for? But what if the question was asked of you? What if you could

arrange a one-to-one meeting face-to-face, man, with Santa Claus himself? What would you be

wishing for in that conversation? Near the end of a tumultuous year for so many around the world

and in the midst of an array of personal challenges for so many

listening to my voice. I was reminded of a remarkable little boy's answer to that question.

His answer broke my heart when I heard it the first time, but it also opened me up to be

reminded of what this season is all about. Let me explain more. After speaking at a medical conference,

this goes back now a couple of years,

a pediatric oncologist approached me,

gave me a big hug,

and shared the impact of the presentation on her.

She shared that in the busyness of work

and with endless demands of life, she simply forgot

and how profoundly important her work was. The keynote, she said, reminded her that her work mattered

and just how much she loved the people that she served. So I said, tell me about those people.

Tell me about your patience. Tell me about a favorite experience of the work that you do.

There was a pause. She hesitated. She became visibly emotional before sharing the story of an eight-year-old patient.

The doctors had gotten to know this little boy extraordinarily well and his family over the last couple months of his battle with cancer.
