Peter, the host, recently recorded an episode discussing with michael leviston and

kelly de vries which medieval battle would they like to have witness i thought it was a great idea

so i stole it for the uh medieval warfare podcast so joining me today uh jasper Othage, Mary Dab, and Mark DeSantis.

I thought it was an interesting idea for us to do as an in-betweener

because I have no doubt that everyone has different things that they'd

like to draw out. also when I thought well

it's an interesting exercise and the first one I came up with the siege of the

siege of the sogdian rock which is where Alexander defeats the king of Bactria and his wife and daughter are

a fleet of the impregnable hilltop fortress and Alexander decides to send 300

warriors up overnight to climb to the top and then I thought you know, is that something I'd like to witness?

Actually, that's a bit boring because it probably did.

Probably, it's a wonderful story.

You know, it's a love story through space and time where Alexander meets Roxana.

Roxanne.

But it did strike me as being not necessarily a spectacle to have witnessed in the ancient world.

It doesn't really answer any questions.

If you, you know, this criteria, I guess, for why you would want to witness something.
