and a lie unto

a lie unto my pad to my path.

Welcome to Searchlight. A survey through scripture with Pastor John Corson. It is our desire to bring you a

systematic study of the entire Bible chapter by chapter book by book.

On our last searchlight program, we began to learn that words really matter.

Or in the case of our story in judges chapter 12, one single word

really matter. In our story, the men of Ephraim were trying to escape from Jeptha

and the men of Gilead back to their home on the east side of the Jordan.

Unfortunately for them, the men of Gilead controlled the river crossing.

When the men of Ephraim would come to cross the river, they would say that they were not

from Ephraim. To verify their identity, the men of Gilead would have them pronounce

Chibole. Because of their accent their accent they the real men of Ephraim could not pronounce it and they

would be killed. Let's now join Pastor John as we continue this interesting story.

42,000 wiped out in battle and wiped out trying to escape over the Jordan.

They couldn't do so. They couldn't make it into their home territory

because they didn't pronunciation or unununciate one word
