This episode should have been all about the Mets salvaging their Giants series and avoiding a sweep, but JUST BEFORE we started recording a report came out that there's a 99.9% chance that Jacob deGrom will be shut down for the remainder of the season. As you can imagine, this changes things. Not that the pitching has been the problem, but any time you lose the greatest pitcher on the planet for the rest of your season it's going to cause ripples throughout the fanbase. Most notably, we almost got our first post-win Cuncel in history! Luckily the guys were able to talk KFC off of the ledge, but this isn't a good situation folks. The team is hanging on by a thread, we still have 2 more series with the Dodgers and Giants and not even a strongly worded tweet from Uncle Stevie can save us. This team has had a ton of issues that we've been able to overlook until now, but when the boss starts calling out the lineup you know it's gotten bad. Mid-August and 4.5 games out from first isn't too terrible, but if we want to have our meaningful games in September (and beyond) somethings gotta give. We discuss our biggest concerns in the division, which players need to start taking more accountability and pray that Lindor and Baez are back soon. It's looking very dark on the horizon and we're only half way through the storm but we gotta believe that this team can weather it enough to have a chance down the stretch.
