Nesil Kaliskan is the Labour MP for Barking, as Citi won at last year's general election.

Before becoming an MP, Nessil served as a counsellor and then at age just 29.

She was elected leader of Enfield Council.

Were your political ambitions hatched very early on, Nessel?

Well, I joined the Labour Party when I was a teenager, so I've got lots of experience

stall, knocking short, absolutely.

And what do you say to those who think that our politicians could do with a bit more life behind them before plunging into politics?

I think we need to have a parliament that has got experiences from all walks of life.

And actually having younger people in politics is a really important aspect of being

able to draw younger people to voting.

Well, of course, Pitt the younger was 24 when he became Prime Minister.

So in the sweep of history, you're a comparative veteran.

And I'm certainly not the youngest member of Parliament.

You are not.
