Summary

Pete, Mike, and Darius discuss the Western Conference heading into the regular season and project who will win the most regular season games. Can the Warriors use their championship to springboard back to the top? How far will the Suns drop off? Are the Clippers and the Nuggets in the same tier as the Warriors or do they still have to prove they're healthy enough? What about the Grizzlies and the Mavs? The guys go through the entire conference answering these questions and projecting where each team lands on the eve of opening night.

What do you think about the Laker team now?

0:03.4

You follow the box scores of the games every day?

0:06.0

Just the Lakers.

0:07.3

You're kidding.

0:08.6

That is really a compliment.

0:12.8

I was pleased to see you smile at the top bar show because once the game starts, you have a game face.

0:17.8

You don't smile much out there.

0:20.4

I don't think you have to do things for money anymore. Correct. What's up, Laker fans? Welcome to the Laker Filmroom podcast, brought you by the Blue Wire Podcast Network. I'm Pete, joined by Darius and Mike. And today we're going to preview the Western Conference. Mike, set us up, please. All right, so I put together a little tier system and you guys are going to help

0:37.7

take me through it. And ultimately we will reach full 100% LFR consensus as to exactly

0:44.5

what's going to happen. It always happens. And now it is funny because we generally do agree

0:51.4

on things. It's just that there are little subtleties. And I'm curious which ones of, in this case, which ones of which teams will end up being the subtleties.

0:58.5

But let's start at the bottom.

1:00.8

I don't think we're going to need a lot of time.

1:02.4

And I have four teams that I think most would agree aren't necessarily trying to win this year, but are more focused on either developing their

1:12.0

young players or positioning themselves for what might happen next season.

1:16.6

And so I have from the bottom, Spurs, Thunder, Jazz, Rockets.

1:21.1

I am open to tangling that order some.

1:24.8

I do think that the Rockets seem like the team that it's going to have the most fun playing together and might be a little bit more motivated to get a couple of wins, you know, but nonetheless are so young and defensively not there yet, really.

1:40.6

But either one of you jump in, does either of those four teams stand out to you that shouldn't be in that tier? Or is there one that you would say is, yeah, that's going to be the worst team for sure? The one that stands out for me in kind of a peculiar way is Utah in that if they're trying to tank, I don't know if they did a good enough job of that. Like they have several pretty good players in, yeah,

2:01.6

they got like Sexton and Markin and Conley and Clarkson, Vanderbilt, right? Like if you're trying

2:07.9

to take a season, yeah, right? Like if you got those types of guys, like, are you going to be

2:14.1

one of the worst teams? Like to me, they're the best of those four teams, which they probably don't want to be. So I generally agree with you, though, that those are the four teams in that tier. I agree with the four teams. I'm going to make a case for, it's going to be weird. I'm going to say this. But OKC is just an interesting team to me. I know that they lost. Holmgren. Lord, Chet Holmgren. My brain has not been working in terms of names for a long time. Now, like, I feel like every other pod, I'm just like, what's his name from that one team? And you guys are just like, oh, Ben Carrow. and I'm just like, yeah, he was the number one
