Here's some of today's top stories from the Los Angeles Times.

California, Oregon, and Washington are teaming up to keep politics out of public health.

Melody Gutierrez reports the three governors announced the West Coast Health Alliance Wednesday,

a pact designed to protect vaccine guidance and public health recommendations from political interference.

The move comes after upheaval at the CDC, as President Trump and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy,

Jr. continue to reshape leadership, removing top scientists while promoting vaccine skeptics.

In June, the three governors released a joint statement,

condemning Kennedy's firing of all 17 members of the CDC's

Vaccine Advisory Committee.

Now, the new alliance will focus on providing evidence-based health care recommendations.

State leaders say this is about keeping public health grounded in science,

not ideology, and making sure every California, Oregon and Washington resident has access to life-saving

information. Dozens of the world's top climate scientists are now pushing back on a new federal report

that downplays global warming.

According to Haley Smith, more than 85 experts say the Department of Energy's report is unfit

to guide policy, calling it biased and error-ridden in a lengthy document Tuesday.

The Trump administration has been using it to justify the rollback of more than 30 environmental regulations,

including the landmark endangerment finding that declared greenhouse gases a threat to public health.

Scientists say the report ignores decades of evidence, which shows human-caused climate change

is driving things like heat waves, floods, wildfires, and rising sea levels.
