festival, our old friend, Wes Anderson, who's been a regular on the show since his second film,

Rushmore, stopped by to talk about his newest film, the Phoenician scheme, and he was joined

by someone who's been with him since Rushmore, Bill Murray. We started the conversation by touching

on a theme that runs throughout his work,

so when looking back at the end of an era.

I always loved magnificent Ambersons, Last Picture Show, and there's some westerns.

There's westerns that are, I mean, certainly like, like Lonesome Dove, you know.

There's something to be moving about a time like that.

I mean, probably every time can be seen that way somehow if you take it that way.

But, you know, I can't admit, but this one has that feeling to you, this new one?

Yeah.

Yeah, it does.

And the protagonist is usually

somebody who is witnessing this era end in the modern, and what's the modern world, either

the real modern world, the modern world for that era. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I also think with this one,

this guy is, what he's doing in the story is comes out of research of the period before the period it's historical

information that we're kind of working with to make our story but i will say it's while we're making

the movie i just kept saying well it's happening right now and it's happening tomorrow um and you know

it's a it's always so cyclical and it's happening tomorrow. And, you know, it's a, it's
