0:02.1	When I started working when I was eight as a performer,
0:04.8	actor, voiceovers, singer.
0:07.2	I was doing plays and musical theater and Los Angeles.
0:10.6	I was doing some television.
0:12.3	And I was pursuing being an artist and a recording artist.
0:17.7	I started writing songs and my first demo,
0:20.5	which is a real record because there was no,
0:22.8	either there was no such thing as a studio
0:24.2	in your house back then.
0:25.6	So I would record after one in the morning
0:28.0	because the prices of the studio dropped.
0:29.9	So I used to sing in one in the morning
0:32.0	and try to do it in three takes because, you know,
0:34.4	I'm paying by the hour here and I'm 14 years old.
0:37.4	At that time, there was no such thing as YouTube
0:40.3	and teenage artists.
0:42.8	So I was 15 and they're like,
0:44.0	what do we do with the white girl who sounds so soulful
0:46.7	and mature?
0:47.6	We don't know how to market this.
