FBI when they first identified this step in about 25 years ago they called it house

stealing the latest one I've heard is title pirates but basically it's all the same thing

what happens is the bad guy can transfer the title of property into your name or into another

false person's name and then extract the value of that piece of property.

So they don't want to steal the house.

They don't want the actual physical structure.

What they want is the value.

Yeah.

The question you ask is, when's the last time you checked your home title?

If the answer is never, that's exactly what they're counting on.

Nobody goes down to the county clerk's office every day and checks their title.

Even if they did step and you can take it immediately after you leave, it's that quick.
