Hey, welcome to our new podcast, Politics by Faith. My name's Mike Slater. I want to tell you the

genesis of this podcast and also the format of what we're going to do here, and I hope you can

subscribe and join us. So there's a ton of anxiety

in the world and in the world of politics. Do you feel it? Or is it just me? I feel it. My wife feels

it. Everyone I talk to feels it. Tensions are high, and we watch the news all the time all day long, first thing in the morning, and we watch the news all the time all day long first thing in the morning

and we watch the news at night about how the world is coming to an end and then we're just

expected to fall asleep peacefully and go into dreamland no way this was just in the hill uh headline

worry over the state of the world is keeping Americans up at night.

Everybody's stressed and there's lots of news. The increase in stress may be one of those

things that's causing more people to lose sleep. You are bombarded with news. More than anyone

in history has been bombarded with news it's constant nonstop and almost always

bad half of us scroll our phones lying in bed before we go we're doom scrolling

before like as we're falling, I do it too.

A mindless drone looking for, I don't even know what.

Something fulfilling.

It never comes.

It's just more bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, just keep scrolling.

Bad.

37% of people fall asleep with the TV on, just inviting terrible things into our hearts and brains

right before we close our eyes.

We're a bunch of addicts.

So that's the problem.
