Before we begin, a heads up, this episode contains references to sexual assault and the abuse of prisoners. The voice you're hearing belongs to a Palestinian man named Aetif Rawada. He's 54 years old. He's as Hamas was attacking Southern Israel,

Atif was in an Israeli prison, in a cell for sick patients.

He's telling Emma how the very next day conditions in the prison dramatically changed.

You know, life changed 180 degrees after the 7 of a war.

How Israeli guards stripped the prisoners of soap, extra clothes, of the covers of their mattresses. And he says,

I can't call the call,

all the rights as the prisoners were taking away from.

And he says, that's when the beatings started.

Israel's war on Gaza which has killed nearly 40,000 people, has been dominating the news for nearly a year.

But all along there's been another campaign playing out behind the walls of Israel's

prisons.
