And with me today, we have a stirring recommendation from Alison Raskin who had you on her podcast and said you were great. So can you tell my audience who you are and what you do?

Wow. I get around, don't I? Hi, everyone. I'm Emily LaDow. I am a disability rights activist and an author

of a book called Demystifying Disability, What to Know, What to Say, and How to Be an Ally.

When did that book come out? So it came out in 2021 and I have a

revised edition coming out at the end of this year. I was going to say, yeah. So can you talk a bit

about what's changed or what you had to revise since 2021? Because 2021 is such a specific time. Yeah. So it was really interesting because

I got the book deal in 2019 and I started the heavy writing process at the end of that year.

And then I was like, oh, I'm just going to be the writer in the coffee shops and everything's

going to be adorable. And even though we're not in the best of times, it's not the worst of times.

And then suddenly it was the actual worst of times. And I finished the book in the corner of my living

room. And it was really challenging because I couldn't cover a lot about the ongoing pandemic when the

pandemic had really just started.

And I didn't know yet what all of the implications were going to be for the disability

community.

A book just captures one moment in time.
