I'm Emily, I'm the host of this show and I am so glad that you are here. Before I really get us started, I want to set the scene for us and begin with a little visualization.

Imagine for a moment that you're in a cute little town walking down a sunny street.

The sidewalk. walking down a sunny street.

The sidewalk is lined with trees swaying in the breeze and cute little shops.

You pass by an inviting window and you take a peek inside.

The glow is warm, the objects inside peak your interest.

Now walk to the door and reach for the handle. Give it a pool and come

inside. And, Welcome to Almanac. You've made it and I am so glad you're here. For now, you're here in your ears, in your madly interesting brain.

But know that Almanac is more than just a podcast.

It's a real place that exists in the real world,

and I cannot wait to tell you all about it

For now just know that I very much so appreciate you being here and I cannot wait to get us started in this first episode, we'll begin with some simple questions.

What is Almanac and why are we here?

Well, in a broad sense, an almanac is an annual publication that features information about the year ahead,

usually in the realms of holidays, meteorological predictions, phases of the moons, the tides, the best times to plant or fish,

and basically any other data or information that will essentially help you

embrace the turning of the Wheel of the Year with understanding and preparedness to make the most of your time and their resources at hand.
