Hi, I'm Jordan Harbor, and thank you for listening to the Twilight Histories on our 10th Anniversary.

The Twilight Histories is a show where you are the hero.

You will travel to strange and exotic lands that could have been but never were.

You will meet people and see sights, visit wonders, and escape terrors that did not exist in our universe.

This week, you will visit three versions of America, an America that might at first seem

familiar, but that is very different.

The first weird tale of America comes from Kevin Valbenese.

Kevin will take you into the streets of Mexico, a Mexico that was conquered by America.

High noon. The sun hangs overhead, scorching the streets of Monterey without a single

solitary cloud to offer respite to the poor thronging masses below.

The heat above meets a heavy humidity below, leaving you and everyone else drenched in sweat.

It's hardly a day to be out and about running errands, and it's certainly not the day you'd want to vote.

And yet, here you are, standing smack dab in the middle of the Plaza de la Guirno, squeezing

past the citizens of Monterey as you make your way toward the Palacio.
