Stroke that momma it open. Dip that knife and spread that. Don't overload. And taste that.

Momma it love it. Hate it. Get it on. I was listening this week to Mary Ann Williamson and

Mary Ann has written a lot about love and fear. And she says that those are the two great powers of

life. And I was reminded today of an article that my dear friend Joel who was our family priest

when the kids were growing up. And my dear friend that I served with is clergy who died in July

at the age of 90. But he has written a wonderful book called Our Story the first 25 years. And

it was the history of our parish. And this particular article is about fear and love. And I

thought I would share it with you today. It's called the power of surprise. Fear is one of our

constant companions in life. We are subjected to it at every turn. It seems inescapable. The past

confirms it. We are afraid of rejection because we have been rejected. Afraid of being hurt because

we've been hurt. Afraid of pain because we've known pain and afraid of loneliness because we've

been lonely. Who has not at some time been visited by rejection, hurt, pain, or loneliness?

No one. If it happened before, it will happen again. Our fear proves the power of the future

as reflected in the past. But the future also holds the element of surprise which magnifies the past.

We do not know when or by whom we will be rejected. Some people will accept us when we did not

expect it. And some will reject us when we thought we would be accepted. So that all relationships
