I know what I need to do now.

We will be celebrating Martin Luther King Day tomorrow on Monday

and then the inauguration of our new president, Joe Biden, and his vice president, Kamala Harris, on Wednesday.

And let's all pray that that goes well and goes smoothly

and that no one is harmed and that peace will be among us

because it's a very tumultuous time right now and in our history and we need to just be prayerful for all of our

leaders in this country. I'm inspired today by a quote from Martin Luther King.

He wrote, an individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines

of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all

humanity. And certainly no one modeled that better than Martin Luther King Jr. and his service to the world and to our

country to make this country a better place for all of us and for equality and justice and peace. And I was

reminded yesterday of how important that is to strive for justice and peace and to respect the dignity of every human being.

That is, those are the words in the baptismal covenant and the Episcopal Church and those are the words I try to live by.
