I'm here today to share a special episode.

This week, I hosted New York City's mayor, Zoran Mamdani, at our radio station, WNYC, for a conversation about his first 100 days in office and how they compare with the legacy of

another famous New York City mayor, Fiorello LaGuardia, who served the city from 1934 to

1945. Mayor Mamdani is a Democratic socialist who is elected on an affordability agenda. He frequently

mentions former mayor Fiorello LaGuardia as an inspiration

and cites the progressive Republicans 12 years in office as proof of what can be accomplished.

Mayor LaGuardia had a radio show on WNYC called Talk to the People,

where he'd speak on the issues of the day.

Mayor Mumdani is also known for how he

communicates, particularly via social platforms like Instagram and TikTok. But the comparisons between

the mayors go further than that. We thought you might enjoy hearing the conversation, so here it is.
