Let's start with the events last night, your reaction to what appears to be a second assassination attempt of some sort against President Trump at the White

House Correspondence Dinner, which appears to be the case that there was no security outside the

perimeter of the ballroom, which is shocking.

Yeah, absolutely appalling. And there is absolutely no excuse for this kind of political

violence in a democracy. I am reassured somewhat by, well, I'm reassured entirely by the

reaction of democratic figures who have roundly condemned this.

But I would like to call people's attention to the reaction in the international media,

which is one of the most alarming things I have seen in a very long time.

And this is on top of a very long list of alarming things about this administration.

You have papers of record all across Europe from Le Mans to Der Spiegel to El Pais to the Guardian,

referring to this as a rice dog moment. Not so much invoking the conspiracy narrative that is brewing actually on the right as much

as on the left, but the idea that this is going to lead to the kind of crackdown on civil liberties

that the Reichstag fire in Berlin was the excuse for. And the other observation, I think, has to be made is that when this
