Summary

This week on The Sports Agents,

We asked if the media actually has any responsibility to help build the confidence of the England National team, after Harry Kane and other members of the squad responded to recent criticism of their performances at Euro 2024...

Conor Coady - part of Gareth Southgate's last two England squads for major tournaments - joined Gabby & Mark for insight into the 'meticulous' nature of the England manager, how difficult social media has made it for players to ignore abuse while stuck in a Euros camp and which young players are ready to step up and lead in the absence of some of the old guard.

Later, as a flurry of 'swap deals' for academy graduates between Premier League clubs for eye-catching transfer fees made headlines, Professor of Applied Sports Finance at UCFB, Rob Wilson, explored how 'fair market value' for a player is actually determined.

And we heard from PFA Managing Director Maheta Molango, on the state of the current transfer market, the welfare of the young footballers at the centre of these deals and if strike action is inevitable.

about what it's like trying to block out the public reaction at a major tournament. I actually quite like it. I'll be honest, from my own point of view. How the players have hit back. Yeah, I quite like it. I quite like it. I think it shows are coming together a little bit. I can imagine they've sat down and listened to a few things that were said and spoke as a team and spoke as a unit and gone we've got to show people and i quite like that i think that's a good thing i think if we're looking from the media side or from a supporter side and you see the team doing that coming together and hopefully creating a little bit of a siege mentality not against the press certainly not against the press but a little bit of a feeling to go into that game and go, right, now we need to show people, we need to show people how we play,

2:03.7

how we do things. We've seen it a little bit with Belgium the other night with how they played. They got a bit of stick after the first game, and they come back and they were fantastic. So I'm hoping that that helps the England team a little bit. The cliche is, isn't it?
