Summary

Nico Collins is coming off the Texans' bye and he probably belongs in your fantasy lineup. But how good is he now, and how good can he be in the future? Today we'll dig into the film Collins has laid down so far in 2023 and make some predictions about his fantasy stock. We'll also discuss many Week 8 ranks, including what the heck you should do with the likes of Austin Ekeler, Aaron Jones and Tee Higgins, whether we have a clear read on what the Bears will do in their backfield, how good Jordan Addison can be and many other fun topics. Including flamingos and geese! Guest: Andy Behrens of Yahoo! Fantasy.

I see you doing work at the computer. You're sitting there. You're maybe a little bored. Your phone says there's a new little podcast that could episode. Hopefully we can have some fun for an hour or you're driving the kids around high kids or you're at the gym. Thank you for making this show part of your day. There's a new silliest things we saw video on YouTube. It involves this week multiple players getting hit in the junk. It also has Taylor Swift scaring the heck

out of a little child. It's six minutes of your time and it comes out every week on Tuesday and I think you'll laugh. Please check it out at youtube.com slash Harris football. I thought I would get started today with some film review and does that mean it's this should I just play this music. I don't know. Does it even count what the heck.

It's film futures or whatever it's called. I guess I don't know. It's also for now. It's not just a future player. He's coming off a by week, but I thought it was time that Nico Collins maybe got the treatment. It's been six games this year. Collins has had a couple of blow up games against the Colts and Steelers.

2:00.0

But only 29 catches overall for the season fewer than five catches per game. You know, he said a by week puts him outside the top 30 receivers for receptions and for an alpha. You want more than four point whatever catches per game.

2:15.0

We've had the tank Dell moment. I am appreciative of Dell's speed, but deeply skeptical that he's a full time fantasy starter at 165 pounds, especially when his big play this year, the Jags just forgot to cover him. I mean, I'm not slagging Dell. There's no reason he can't be Rashid Shaheed. He can be skeptical. He's going to be a lot more than that. But we'll see. However, Collins is just a different kind of cat.

2:43.0

Six foot four 222 pounds. It's his third year in the league. He had Davis Mills, mostly for the first two years and Davis Mills still sounds like a shopping mall. Now CJ Stroud comes in and because of the stats, the Texans offense under Demiko Ryan's got mislabeled early as this huge throwing swash buckling offense that was just, you know, taken a million chances and racking up huge yards by design.

3:13.0

And Stroud has been really solid for a rookie and he's not making a million tight window throws and he's not pushing the envelope downfield with great like regularity except for a few busted coverages in September.

3:26.0

From the Texans perspective, what has has everyone's, you know, dander up whatever everyone rightly excited is that Stroud isn't making very many mistakes, which is really hard to do your first few games as a professional quarterback in the NFL.

3:42.0

And it tells them and us that as they build out the past game more Stroud has a chance to be the thing that people looking at his stat game log the first few weeks thought he already was.

3:55.0

He probably so far off you take the full body of work from CJ Stroud so far. He's been a roughly average quarterback. He's probably been like the 16th best quarterback in the league this year.

4:06.0

But for a rookie, that's great to be able to do that right away. And obviously, therefore he has the potential for even more than that as we get past the first six games of his life, right.

4:15.0

So I watched every catch so far this season from Nico Collins 29 catches. I'm a hero. Let's face it. But then I also picked the most recent three games, Steelers week four, Falcons week five, Saints week six.

4:30.0

And I watched all of his routes from that game. Now if you watched only the Steelers film, you'd come away thinking Nico Collins is a top five receiver in the league.

4:38.0

He was incredible after the catch in that game. There's a play right before half time where he runs a stop route catches it in front of a few Steelers defenders and just accelerates through and around them for a big gain.

4:50.0

He closed out that game with a good release and I guess you'd say a corner route. It wasn't really like what you think of a typical corner out.

4:59.0

It's actually was the banana route from spider to why banana. You know that that fame and he runs a little faster than the man coverage and you know sort of accelerates a couple of steps.

5:13.0

You know he's open basic is what I'm saying and gets a really great throw over his outside shoulder and houses it and that locked up that game.

5:20.0

That was the one where people decided you know seven catches 168 yards to touchdowns. Okay, that's it. Boom were done Collins is now a high wide receiver to for fantasy if not a low wide receiver one and people were ranking him 10th, you know going into the next week.

5:36.0

And that was probably too aggressive for where the Texans offense is, but it's great in that it did showcase that at his peak Nico Collins can do things that not a lot of six foot for 222 pound human beings can do.

5:51.0

The two games since then have been more frustrating for the Texans passing game and therefore for Collins, I don't really think that's much of his doing.

6:00.0

I think it's just where Houston's offense is against the Falcons the entire pass offense itself just got a little stuck in the mud Atlanta hit them with the standard two deep safety most of the game.
