I'm your host, Justin Boone, the lead fantasy analyst at The Score.

Recording a little earlier than usual here on the Friday afternoon. My schedule isn't really letting me wait until we have all the practice reports and all those injury designations from the West Coast in. But I'll walk you through what we know now and how I'm approaching it in week eight, hoping that it's not that bad of a week for injuries. I said this throughout the week. We didn't have that many injuries coming off a week seven. Definitely have a few stars, though, who are still up in the air right now. So let's start, as always, with quarterbacks. And we'll get some of the easy ones out of the way here. Justin Herbert with the finger, Trevor Lawrence, with the knee. They're both going to play through it and they're fine.

0:54.5

So no impact to the projections there. I mean, Lawrence, he ran more than he normally does last week,

1:00.0

right, despite the fact he was playing through that injury. So all good there with those two.

1:04.0

Jimmy Garoppolo, he returned to practice after having that back injury that kept him out last week.

1:09.0

And he's a risky streamer, kind of like all the quarterback streamers this week, to be honest. But his return is going to help lift that passing attack. And that's going to give Devante Adams and Jacoby Myers a better outlook in this game. And to a lesser extent, it's definitely going to help tight end Michael Mayer. And it'll help give those guys higher ceilings for fantasy. So Adams is a strong wide receiver one, Jacoby, a wide receiver two, who's been just getting great volume this year, and then Mayer is a streaming option at tight end. Justin Fields, he's still not practicing due to that thumb injury. They say that he's targeting a week nine return. I want to see him on the practice field before I'm going to pencil him back in

the rankings. But Tyson, Bejant's going to get another start this week. And he's really just a desperation play at best, even in a good matchup here. I know people were so happy that he got the Bears of the win last week, but Deont de Forman did most of the work in that game. Let's face it. So even in a better matchup on paper for beajant i would still be cautious with him you know he's more just a

2:03.8

desperation start in 2 QB in Superflex leagues it's a great story though it's definitely great story I don't want to poo it at all you know I want to see him succeed just a very risky fantasy play a Brock Purdy so this one's interesting he popped up with the concussion so he in the protocol this week, and that stems back to the Monday nighter where he had that short yardage play, and everyone kind of realized that that was the time that he had the injury, and then he kept playing through it. But even though the NFL hasn't really been clearing these guys from the protocol within the same week, Purdy has been back at practice the last two days, and there's reports out there that he's on track to be cleared on Saturday. And yes, that is possible. It just hasn't really been the case with these guys in protocol this year. And let me remind you when we had Dalton Kincaid a few weeks back in the concussion protocol, and there was a lot of reports that week that people thought he was going to get cleared on Saturday, but he didn't. So just keep that in mind. I know some of the people are reporting it. Maybe they're getting that from the team that there's optimism that he can get cleared, but it's also a short week, right? So I would expect that Purdy is going to miss this game. And if that happens, then Sam Darnel's going to get the

3:07.5

start. And I spoke about Darnel a bunch on yesterday's mailbag show, but I see him as a quality streaming option if he does get the call. And that's because he's got great weapons. It's a great scheme. He's had time to learn this offense and get comfortable out there in San Francisco. Doesn't have the same fantasy ceiling as Purdy, but he'll be a decent streamer if he's the one out there

3:27.2

starting. And I'm not really dropping any of the 49ers skill position guys because the quarterback change either, because Debo's out, right? So there's going to be more than enough volume to go around. And Darno can execute this system. I believe in him here. I think this is the right team for him to

3:41.3

actually get it done. I just hope that he doesn't go out there and have a big game and then we have

3:45.7

to hear about a quarterback controversy in San Francisco. It's the silly morning show topics I know,

3:50.9

but maybe Purdy will still get cleared and this will just be a moot point, but if Purdy does get

3:55.7

cleared, he'll be a low-end quarterback one this week

3:58.1

for fantasy. The next guy on my list, Daniel Jones, speaking of people blowing up quarterback

4:02.6

controversies, I definitely saw people talking about whether Tyrod Taylor should start even when

4:07.1

Jones ends up being healthy. I like Tyrod, but I don't think that's even a conversation. Jones

4:12.6

is obviously the starter when he's 100%. The only problem is we don't know when he's going to be 100%. He can't get cleared for contact. Brian Daibold's kind of dancing around questions now about whether Jones is even going to be back this year. So Tyrod's going to start this week and really for however long DJ misses. And this week's going to be a tough one against

4:31.3

the Jets. Normally you would be able to get Tyrod out there as a streamer. This Jets game is not the spot to do that. He gets the Raiders in week nine. He gets the commanders in week 11. There are going to be some games where you could potentially put him in your lineup as a QB2 or a streamer. But in deep leagues, I think he should be rostered.

4:48.9

I've picked him up in a couple spots in dynasty leagues and very deep dynasty leagues where I've needed some help at quarterback, whether it's because of buys or injuries or whatever. So I think Tyrod is somebody that could be picked up in those spots, but if you're looking at him this week as a streamer, it's just not the right matchup. That Jets defense is getting healthy again. They're going to be a problem for him. And this is another situation where Taylor being in there doesn't really change the projections for the Giants players. If anything, it helps their passing numbers. Just not this week. Like I said, it's a bad matchup with the Jets. Deshawn Watson. So we covered him plenty this week. He's still not practicing. We don't have a solid timeline for when he's going to be back. So it's going to be the PJ Walker show for now. And Walker, just a desperation streamer against the Seahawks this week. And the quarterback and the matchup makes it pretty hard to play Amari Cooper. Cooper's kind of boomer bust on a regular day. So I don't know if you want to trust him here. Elijah Moore, he just really hasn't been doing that much with his touches. So I think he's potentially droppable depending on the depth of your league. And then even David and Joku, he's going to be hard to trust as a streamer. Ryan Tannahill, so he's out this week, likely going to be out a little longer, too. And the reports are saying that Will Levis is going to start, but Mike Rable, he remains adamant that both quarterbacks are going to play. Maybe that means Malik Willis is going to handle some of the short yardage stuff, or it just leaves the door open in case levish struggles. Either way, it's a bad situation for fantasy. The Falcons

6:16.1

defense is really the thing you want to target here. That's the direction that I'd be going
