Great to have you hanging out with me today on this beautiful Friday in my neck of the woods. Hopefully the sun is shining wherever you are. I know our hearts are going out to everybody who's dealing with the aftermath, the hurricane Ian. Some parts of Florida just got hit really, really hard. It's going to take folks a while to rebuild there and to move forward in a lot of different ways. So we're wishing them the best. And if you're in a position to donate to help them out in any way, please do. Just think of it were you and your family going through a difficult time like that. I mean, a little help could make such a huge difference. And we're all going to be in a situation like that at some point. And it might not be a it's a wildfire maybe it's an earthquake maybe it's an unexpected medical issue that you

suffer or someone in your family suffers so if you have the means to help somebody who's

1:02.0

struggling in the moment you definitely should now on today's show I wish that were the

1:06.7

only serious topic that we had to discuss but we have to mention the two atago my lowest

1:10.7

situation and I'm not here to rant about it i've said my piece about how i think teams and players

1:16.2

shouldn't be russian players back from these serious injuries even guys like chris godwin and

1:20.3

sterling shepherd they came back quicker than expected from for godwin it was a torn ACL for

1:25.5

shepherd it was a torn Achilles and both guys

1:27.8

come back early in the season and both of them suffer new injuries that are going to cost them

1:31.6

more time and Godwin's instance it's only a few weeks hopefully we're going to see him back soon

1:36.2

with the hamstring issue but Shepard it's another season-ender this time it's a torn ACL for

1:41.4

him so those are bad enough I mean when it's a head or a neck injury

1:45.8

that's way more risky and we all saw to a you know the stumbling situation when he got hit and fell

1:52.3

against the bills and he just looked like he couldn't keep himself up and the offensive linemen

1:56.6

kind of holding him up there and yet somehow he comes back in the second half and he plays in that game at week three. And after the game, the team calls it a back injury. So that's how they sort of avoided any concussion stuff. And who knows? I mean, they're saying that they tested him every single day last week for concussion issues. But you have him out there on the field four days later for a Thursday night game and sure enough he takes another big hit his

2:18.4

head bounces off the turf his neck snaps back and he's lying there with his hands of his fingers

2:23.8

just locked in that awkward position and the injury analyst the doctors they're saying that that's a

2:29.1

sign of brain trauma it is really really scary stuff and it's the worst side of the NFL, right?

2:39.6

And yeah, there's always going to be some sort of risk that you could have a serious injury when you're playing a violent sport like football.

2:47.2

But the dolphins and maybe Tua to some degree, they put him in a bad spot where the danger was just far worse than it needed to be.
