Summary
I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. (2 Timothy 1:5)
Eunice and Lois are very briefly mentioned as the mother and grandmother of Timothy, but they are known for passing on a legacy of sincere faith. Have you ever thought about your kids being grandparents or parents one day? It’s incredible to think that what you pour into your kids now will influence what they pour into their own kids and impact generations to come.
Sometimes, raising kids can feel mundane and like an unseen role, when the truth is that this important work can actually raise up generations of faith-filled men and women. This feels like a lot of pressure, but faith is so often caught, not taught. If we model a sincere faith to our kids, they are likely to follow the same path.
We don’t know what the future holds for our kids. Whether they become parents and grandparents or not, they will have an influence on the next generation of believers. As they know, love, and follow Jesus, they aren’t just impacting the world directly in front of them. They are also impacting people they don’t even know yet.
This week, let’s pray that our kids see the bigger calling on their lives and that their sincere faith will ripple out to many generations.
Jesus, I pray that __________ is a godly influence on everyone around them, that they live out a sincere faith in a way that influences their family, their friends, and their future family as well. Lord, I pray that you would begin to create a legacy of faith in my children to love God and love others.

| 0:35.4 | You are the original host of Part of the Mess about six years ago, and I got the pleasure of taking the torch for three years. And then I'm passing it to someone else. And I think you and I would both say that this is always bigger than us. There was a community of moms that needed encouragement, and we just got the special privilege of walking in and being a part of it for a few years. But one of my favorite parts of being |
| 0:55.1 | able to be a part of this podcast is the prayer journal. I did not want to do it. And I look back and I'm just so thankful you started this. So give us context of why you did a prayer journal, why you thought it was important to pray with moms on part of the mess. Yeah. Well, I'll just be honest with you, I was so poor at praying for my kids. And I just felt a deficit there. And I pray for |
| 1:14.1 | their safety. And then I'll just be honest with you. I was so poor at praying for my kids. And I just felt a deficit there. And I pray for their safety. And then I'm like, well, I got to believe that I should be praying for more than their safety and maybe their spouse one day. And I just, maybe that's encouragement for someone in leaning into what I was not good at. The Lord literally just put it on my heart. Like maybe a lot of people are feeling |
| 1:28.3 | that way. And so I wrote from my deficit of prayer journal that Christian parenting used. And here we are, did a little podcast on it. And that was just the Holy Spirit. And that's just an encouragement to whatever it is that you don't feel good about. Like don't live in shame. There's no condemnation and Christ, like lean into it, and, you know, the Lord's crazy that way. |
| 1:45.8 | He'll be like, into it and you know |
| 1:44.6 | the Lord's crazy that way he'll be like yeah when you are weak I am strong yeah he's like let me |
| 1:49.6 | prove that one to you but I think it's interesting I don't look at the numbers often but |
| 1:53.6 | I think the numbers for Mondays episodes are right at or even higher than the ones on Thursdays which |
| 1:59.6 | totally surprised me but it makes sense because it just echoes all of us are out here going, I desperately want to be a woman of prayer, but I just like lob it up at the end of the day. It's like, Lord, you know my heart, pray for them, but it's been really fun to like see the fruit in my own life of like, I was praying Monday specifically for this. And then Thursday, oh my gosh, this happened. Or maybe we prayed for it and we're still waiting on it. But we're surrendering it. That's the point. So week 36, we're talking about a topic that is really important to both of us is legacy of faith. And we're talking about Eunice and Lois. And I was like, Google, who the heck are Eunice and Lois? And so tell us where we find these two lovely ladies. |
| 2:37.0 | Well, I know about what you know on this. |
| 2:40.0 | Eunice and Lois were not in my like top five that I've studied up on. |
| 2:43.9 | But I do know that, you know, it's the mom and grandma of Timothy. |
