Welcome! Hey, everybody, welcome in. My name is Chris, and this is a show. Hello there, everybody. Thank you for listening today. I appreciate you being here. And here is my deal today for you. For about one single solitary hour of your day, I'm going to try and make you feel happy, which honestly is almost always my goal, no matter what, what I do

for a living. It's quite silly. I am a barnacle on a trillion-dollar enterprise called the NFL,

making jokes and acting all anti-establishment and cracking-wise and pretending like a silly thing

is serious.

But in life's weird way, that's how it turns out that I best connect with a whole lot of people on a tangibly daily basis.

And I'm really lucky to have had things turn out that way.

And I have all of you to thank for that.

If today happens to be a day where you are less

distractible, I completely understand it. But I myself do need time to feel happy, to feel

connected to some people. The idea that what we do on this show five times a week makes people

happy is probably laughable.

I kind of understand it.

Hey man, that guy sounds really irritated about football.

That's supposed to make people happy.

But yeah, I think it kind of does for some of us.

Been doing the show, whatever, nine and a half years, been doing it while a whole lot of

insane stuff was happening in the real world, always have tried to be respectful when that stuff

is overwhelming, but also tried to get back to the part where, you know, I try in my particular

way to make you happy.

I sit alone in a room for hundreds and hundreds of hours writing fiction, which I love.

But whatever connection comes from that is really delayed, and it's very rare that I actually get to feel it.
