Earlier this week I had a chance to sit down with a tool Gawande who is a healthcare

writer and practicing surgeon who I've admired for such a long time.

And we had this conversation at the 6th and I, a really gorgeous historic synagogue in

downtown DC hosted by Politics and Pros, a local bookstore here.

And we just got to geek out about health policy for an hour.

It was a lot of fun.

We talked about his new book being mortal which came out a few years ago now when we were

able to talk about how his views of end of life care of change since he published that

And my favorite part of the discussion was talking about the opioid epidemic which is

not something a tool has written a lot about but he had some really interesting thoughts

about how doctors, doctors like himself are largely to blame for a lot of the problems
