This is Wednesday of Holy Week, and it begins with the conspiracy against Jesus.

Matthew 26 tells us, Jesus had now finished all he wanted to say, and he told his disciples,

it will be Passover, as you know, in two days' time, and the son of man will be handed over to be

crucified. Then the chief priests and the elders of the people assembled in the palace of the

high priest, whose name was Caiaphas, and made plans to

arrest Jesus by some trick and having put to death. They said, however, it must not be done

during the festivities. There must be no disturbance among the people.

That's where we begin today.

So let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

That morning, Wednesday morning,

Jesus was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper.

When a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of the most expensive ointment and poured it on his head as he was at table.

Then Judas Ascariat, one of the disciples, the man who was to betray him, said,

why wasn't this ointment sold for 300 days wages and the money given to the poor?

He said this not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief.

And Jesus said, leave her alone.
