We're going to begin with a dire warning coming as we enter day 15 of the government shutdown.

As the stalemate drags on, air traffic controllers are warning of the potential impact on their ability to do their jobs.

Our transportation correspondent, Geo Benitez, starts us off at a major airport here in

New York. Good morning, Geo. Hey, Robin, good morning. Yeah, we've seen how fragile the air traffic

control system is, even without a shutdown. And now weeks in, controllers are saying it's not just

about delays, it's about safety. This morning, as the government shutdown stretches into its third week, air traffic controllers are issuing a dire warning.

This introduces a new risk to aviation.

Air traffic controllers are supposed to mitigate risk.

Controllers at Reagan National Airport say the stress of working without a paycheck, in some cases even considering picking up a second job to make ends meet, is putting lives at risk.

Not knowing exactly how I'm going to have childcare for my kids or put gas in the car or pay the next mortgage payment adds a certain level of stress onto an already stressful profession.

It's just very difficult.

As the shutdown drags on, the Trump administration is upping its attacks on its political

foes.
