| 0:14.0 | A lot going on this week, but yesterday there was an unprecedented meeting of the senior commanders of the United States military. Now, of course, |
| 0:21.3 | ongoingly, there is the body and known as the Joint Chiefs of Staff. That is the heads of the |
| 0:26.4 | services, the top military officers and all of the services, the Chief of Staff of the Army, |
| 0:31.9 | and you just look at all the different branches that are there. But this was bigger by far, |
| 0:36.5 | and indeed by a multiple factor of anything that had happened, at least in recent United States history. |
| 0:43.3 | This was the top commanders, the generals and admirals and others a similar rank, brought together at the order of the President of the United States and the Secretary of Defense for a very unusual gathering, |

| 1:03.9 | and had required the generals and admirals to gather there. |

| 1:49.8 | issues. The meeting is going to be debated for a long time. So will the comments made by the |
| 1:54.0 | president and the Secretary of War. I want to center in on one part of the Secretary's message, |

| 2:02.9 | but for all kinds of worldview reasons, I think we need to look at it pretty clearly. |
