Wednesday, May 7th, 2025. The Core 4, the four headlines you need to know. Nearly 20 years

to the day it was enacted, the Real ID Act officially goes into effect. Yeah, that is happening today.

But on May 11th, 2005, the act was passed by Congress. And this was a part of a national security measure in response

to the 9-11 commission's recommendation that our federal government set a minimum standard

for our IDs. That's because 9-11 hijackers use state-issued

IDs to board the planes. The Real ID Act was delayed due to state resistance, technical challenges,

COVID-19, and general public confusion for 20 years. And if you don't have a real ID yet, you can travel domestically with

a passport. And if you are traveling, I would expect some delays because TSA now needs to look
