Alright, hi guys, how are you?

I promise I'm gonna do a somewhat normal episode of this show in a minute here, but our country is waking up today with a deep sadness, and I needed to talk about it for a second.

I personally am numb. I feel paralyzed. I have ever since this news broke yesterday.

18 students, elementary school students, and one teacher are dead after an 18 year old open fire at Rob Elementary School in Newvalde, Texas.

I've done real 18 kids children. That's a lot of families that are waking up today with a giant piece missing and how many other students are traumatized for life now.

As I get older, and now that I have kids in my own, this just shakes me to my core. Of course you don't have to have kids to be heartbroken by this.

The gunman who was killed by law enforcement despite having body armor on was a student at the area high school and allegedly shot his grandmother before entering the school.

It's reported that she was airlifted to the hospital. He crashed his truck and entered the school at this point. There is no clear motive.

Here's a big statistic for you. It was the 27th school shooting of the year in the US.

And according to the gun violence archive, we have had 212 mass shootings so far in 2022.

President Biden gave a speech last night. Biden was vice president 10 years ago when the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary happened, and he of course referenced these similarities.

He said that he will not stop trying to push Congress to support gun legislation.

I was close to not even doing an episode of the show today. It's just hard to think about anything else, but this podcast, which has a decent following now.

It's kind of just a way to get caught up on all the headlines. I've never really considered it a news show. I don't go too deep on anything. It's just an overview of everything.

So please, if you don't want to listen today, if you're not up for this, I totally get it. It's completely your choice. And I totally understand that today.

I'm sure the vibe will be a little more somber, and it's probably going to be a shorter show. But here we go with those families in my heart and on my mind.

All right. It's Wednesday, May 25th, 2022. I obviously spoke about the biggest story there at the top of the show.

Today, we remember another tragedy as well. It's the anniversary of the passing of George Floyd.

It was murdered by a police officer two years ago today, May 25th, 2022. And unless the plans will change in the wake of that Texas shooting, President Biden is expected to sign an executive order today regarding police accountability.

There's a signing ceremony scheduled for this afternoon, and the president is scheduled to be joined by members of George Floyd's family.

Again, there's a chance plans will change, and this won't happen today, which is the anniversary of his death. But if not today, I'm sure that executive order will be signed soon.
