0:10.0	analysis of news and events from a Christian worldview.
0:13.0	Sometimes when you look at big moral issues, the change comes fast, sometimes it seems
0:18.0	to come slow.
0:19.8	But as we're going to talk about today, there have been two issues of vast moral significance,
0:24.8	not the same moral significance, but both vast moral significance that have followed a very
0:29.7	similar trajectory.
0:31.2	That has been the rise of LGBTQ rights and the rise of
0:34.3	normalization of the use of marijuana. And on that second story, Quantum Leap
0:39.4	yesterday. Major media are reporting that the Food and Drug Administration and other federal agencies are moving towards a reclassification of marijuana so as to reduce it from a Schedule 1 drug, which is very highly restricted, the use of which is
0:55.6	illegal in certain circumstances. Any use has to be justified by some
0:59.6	special circumstance or state law. You're looking at the fact that the Food and Drug Administration
1:05.1	is announcing it's looking at moving marijuana from Schedule 1, very, very restrictive to
1:09.7	Schedule 3, restricted in one sense under some circumstances but a completely
1:14.3	different lesser category. Now behind this is a lot of really interesting
1:18.7	history but in the present we really are talking about some very big moral issues that also relate to the rule of law.
1:26.0	Just giant issues here, so let's get started.
1:28.0	First of all, in history, the use or
1:35.0	abuse of certain kinds of substances for some kind of physical effect or psychological effect,
1:36.0	that's very, very old.
1:38.0	And indeed it goes back in many cultures into prehistory.
