We're going to begin with the urgent hostage standoff following a bomb threat at a Chase Bank, where officials say a man barricaded himself inside the building.

scene following the latest on the emergency situation there in Bakersfield, California. Good morning to you,

Melissa. Robin, good morning. Police locking down several blocks here across downtown Bakersfield.

This is where this hostage situation is underway. Now, police are telling us that there were several people inside that Chase Bank building.

We've seen family members that have been awaiting any word of their loved one that may be inside.

Yes, a hostage.

Sent for hostages on the west end of the second floor.

SWAT teams, the bomb squad, negotiators and FBI flooding downtown Bakersfield Tuesday afternoon. Police receiving a call about a man making a bomb threat inside a Chase bank.

The subject possibly has a makeshift detonated and wires coming from under his shirt.

Nearby City Hall and police headquarters placed on lockdown as police negotiated with the suspect.

The subjects got people on their knees.

Authorities say the suspect held people captive inside one of the rooms in the bank, releasing two separately.

An unknown number remain inside.

Overnight, Arturo Ravello, who says he represented

the alleged suspect 13 years ago speaking to ABC News.
