It's first thing with Kevin Mano, a quick and efficient look

at all the headlines across the board.

And the show starts right now.

And it always starts with the top story. The Surgeon General, Dr Vivick Murphy, is back in the news.

Yesterday he officially declared gun violence to be a public health crisis in this country.

His announcement came after another very violent weekend across the US, multiple mass shootings.

He's calling on the members of Congress to implement new gun laws and restrictions. He is specifically asking for a ban on automatic rifles and universal background checks for purchasing guns. Again, this comes from the nation's top doctor.

A couple sports headlines here. The 2024 NBA draft gets started tonight.

The first round happens at Barclay Center in Brooklyn.

You can watch on ABC and E-SPN.

And the first pick goes to Atlanta.

They'll be followed by Washington, Houston, San Antonio, and Detroit.

A couple young French players named Alexander and Zach are expected to get scooped up first,

kind of like how Victor Wymbinama, another French player was picked first last year.

Back to the Stanley Cup for a sec.

Game 7 on Monday night had the second largest audience for any

NHL game in 20 years. 16.3 million people tuned in for it. Also I read

that it's now been 31 years since a Canadian team has won the Stanley Cup.
