| 0:07.8 | I'm Albert Moeller and this is the briefing, a daily analysis of news and events from a Christian worldview. |
| 0:14.0 | Now, this week in the year, virtually every year, all eyes are on the Supreme Court of the United States. |
| 0:21.0 | And that is because this final week of June is typically the week |
| 0:24.8 | in which some of the most important decisions are announced by the court. The |
| 0:29.4 | reason for that is the court's summer recess. The new term begins when the fall begins. |
| 0:34.4 | The justices traditionally, if not only taken a break from the court, |
| 0:38.4 | many of them have traditionally left Washington, D.C. |
| 0:41.6 | and that's why this last week of June has often been laden |
| 0:44.6 | with announcements of cases headed down decisions that have shaped American history. |
| 0:49.2 | Now here's the thing. This year we're looking at an unprecedented number of those cases not yet decided and we're running out of June. |
| 0:58.0 | We're running out of June fast. |
| 0:59.7 | And so typically, as we're looking at the business week we have today and |
| 1:04.7 | Thursday and Friday and that's it. And the courts clerk had announced that at |
| 1:09.7 | least some decisions would be handed down today. We do not yet know what those decisions are and |
| 1:14.6 | certainly we don't know how those decisions came down and were decided. We're |
| 1:19.1 | going to have to look at this very, very carefully and we're not going to have much |
| 1:22.1 | time and add to that that in an |
| 1:24.7 | unprecedented development the first presidential debate of the 2024 cycle is |
| 1:30.1 | going to be taking place on Thursday night. |
| 1:32.8 | And so we really are looking at some massive headline news |
| 1:36.8 | coming at us over the next couple of days. |
