Good morning and welcome to another episode of the morning show podcast. Today's date,

not as cool as yesterday's, is Wednesday, February 23rd, 2022. And today we're going to play a new

game called Two Second Tunes. You will hear that later on in the show. We've also got some big

news about women's soccer, good news in the world of COVID, and some real weird news involving Cardi B and Jake Paul.

The Core 4. The four headlines you need to know. Yesterday, the U.S. women's soccer players scored a huge win off the field.

They reached an agreement with the U.S. Soccer Federation

to end a six-year legal battle over equal pay. They are promised $24 million plus bonuses

to match those of the men U.S. soccer players. The USSF also agreed to establish a fund with

$2 million to benefit the players in their post-soccurre careers and charitable efforts aimed at growing the sport for young women.

Good news on the COVID front. COVID infections are down 90% in the U.S. falling from record highs as the Omicron variant spread like wildfire a little over a month ago.

Back on January 15th, America was averaging around 800,000 cases each day.

That number has plummeted to just over 80,000 daily cases on average.

This obviously is really good news as mask mandates and other COVID restrictions are being lifted across the U.S.

Hospitalizations due specifically to COVID have also fallen sharply, and experts are touting

the vaccine along with the fact that so many people were infected recently with Omicron as

reasons for the sharp decline and the cautious optimism as we transition to a world where

COVID remains a persistent but manageable risk.
