0:20.9	Security Committee, brought a lawsuit against Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, the Proud Boys
0:25.2	and the Oath Keepers for conspiring to violate the 1871 Ku Klux Klan Act.
0:30.4	You've probably never heard of that before.
0:32.3	It's an old but clearly still necessary law that prohibits any actions designed to prevent
0:36.8	Congress from carrying out its duties.
0:38.9	I'm not a lawyer, but considering that the riot was specifically intended to stop
0:42.6	desert vacation in the Electoral College vote, this seems to fall squarely in that category.
0:48.8	This is a civil lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court in DC and was brought by the NAACP.
0:54.0	After suing Trump in his personal capacity, alleging that he acted outside the scope of
0:58.0	his office and seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.
