let's join Kurt for today's episode. So glad you joined us for yet another episode in our

excursion through the book of Matthew. We are in Matthew chapter 8, as most of you probably

already know. And we are talking about some incredible miracles that Jesus

performed. These aren't myths. These aren't fairy tales. These are real events that took place in time

and space in the ministry of Jesus. And all of them have an important teaching. And that is that

Jesus is real. His message is real, his message is real,

his mission to planet Earth was real, and we ought to have a real respect for him as our

savior and as our king. We're in Matthew 8 and verse number of 14. And I want to remind you that the

book of Matthew is not written chronologically. So if one of the ways that you like to study

the life of Jesus is chronologically, then what you really have to do is take Matthew, Mark, and Luke, and John,

and collate them. And some have done that. It's an amazing study, by the way. And then we call that

the harmony of the gospels. And you can begin to piece together the chronological sequence in which Jesus did some of these miracles.

That's an amazing study. But as we study Matthew, our main theme, our big idea is Jesus is king.

So as we look through the lens of that big idea, we see in each one of these miracles and all these aspects

of teaching that Jesus is coming back to that theme. And Matthew, who is selecting these miracles

and these events in the life of Jesus, is selecting them with that purpose to demonstrate to a

Jewish reader that Messiah is not coming, he came.
