Good morning, everyone. Before we pray together, I have a short yet hopefully exciting announcement to make.

Evening prayer is coming in time for Lent. I know many of you have been waiting for a while for this to start, and I appreciate your patience.

This podcast gets made in my spare time, so I've been trying to build up my library over the last year and a half so that I could add evening prayer without getting burnt out, basically.

But the time has come, and we are ready to start.

So the first evening prayer episode will drop on Ash Wednesday, February 22nd.

My hope is that it will be a useful tool for you, especially in the season of Lent, as we spend more time praying and reading scripture and recognizing that we are in deep need of mercy and that our God's character is always to have mercy. So, Ash Wednesday, February 22nd, evening prayer begins.

Before we begin our time together, let's spend a few moments in silence.

From the rising of the sun to its setting, my name will be great among the nations,

and in every place incense will be offered to my name and a pure offering.

For my name will be great among the nations, says the Lord of hosts.

Let us humbly confess our sins to Almighty God.

Almighty and most merciful Father,

we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.

We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.

We have offended against your holy laws.

We have left undone those things which we ought to have done, and we have done those things which we ought not to have done.

And apart from your grace, there is no health in us.

O Lord, have mercy upon us.
