The race for public lands commissioner in Washington is finally set. Today, Washington's Secretary of State certified the manual recount. The final tally shows Democrat Dave Up the

Grove beat Republican Sue Keel Peterson by 49 votes out of 1.9 million votes cast.

Up the Grove will face Republican Jamie Herrera Butler this November.

The lands commissioner leads the state's Department of Natural Resources, which includes

wildfire management.

A suspect is in custody in connection with Monday's overnight shooting spree on Interstate 5.

The Washington State Patrol is describing it as a mass shooting event.

Captain Ron Mead says the attacks appear to be completely random.

There's absolutely no reason to suggest these were anything but innocent people drive down the road trying to get from point A to point B, and for

whatever reason, became the victims of this unwarranted, unprovoked attack. And really, it is an

attack. It's not just an attack on those individuals. It's really an attack on everybody.

Officials say five people were injured during two waves of attacks in King and Pierce counties.

A license plate description helped track down a suspect who's being held for investigation of first-degree assault.
