The Trump administration is using a workaround to retain Seattle's U.S. attorney, despite his

lack of confirmation by the U.S. Senate.

Amy Radle has more.

Charles Neil Floyd has served as interim U.S. attorney since October, but this week,

Trump's Justice Department changed his title, keeping him in his

post. In a statement, Floyd said, while my title has changed, what has not changed is my leadership

of the men and women of the U.S. Attorney's Office, calling it an honor. Floyd said his previous

experience as an immigration judge has been useful. But Democratic Senator Patty Murray blocked his confirmation

over his denials of bond for people in immigration detention. She called his stance

out of step with the state's values. Meanwhile, the federal court can appoint a U.S. attorney

when no one has been confirmed. The Chief District Judge in Seattle said they will do so later

this spring.
