0:19.3	Well, it's not just a matter of language.
0:22.0	It is a matter of worldview.
0:23.8	It is a matter right now in the middle of war between Russia and Ukraine following Russia's
0:29.5	invasion of Ukraine earlier this year.
0:32.6	Why would there be two Orthodox churches in Ukraine?
0:35.8	Well, you say, looking at the United States, look at how many different Baptist denominations
0:40.1	there are.
0:41.2	Look at how many Protestant denominations there are.
0:43.6	All you have to do to start a new denomination in the United States is basically get some kind
0:48.2	of post office address.
0:49.6	But maybe now you would say just a website.
0:52.6	But when you're talking about the Christian church, historically in the east, you're talking
0:57.0	about a very different picture.
0:59.6	And that is, of course, with reference to what is known as the Eastern Churches, or what
1:03.9	is often referred to in the West as Eastern Orthodoxy.
1:07.8	And as you're looking at this, you recognize there's a basic distinction between Christianity
1:12.5	in the Western Empire and in its inheritor states.
